What we bring in
- Plant-derived surfactants The actual cleaning work. Coconut and corn derived, readily biodegradable.
- Citric acid Dissolves the hard-water scale that Abbotsford and Mission taps leave behind.
- Sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate Mild abrasion and grease cutting, without scratching or fuming.
- Hydrogen peroxide Where something genuinely needs disinfecting. Breaks down to water and oxygen.
- Microfibre and hot water Physically lifts soil and microbes off a surface instead of chemically killing them in place.
- HEPA filtration Vacuums that keep fine dust in the machine rather than returning it to the room.
- Nothing, by default No added fragrance unless you specifically ask for it.
What we never bring in
- Chlorine bleach Health Canada and CCOHS both advise soap and water over bleach for household mould. It also makes chlorine gas if it meets an acid.
- Ammonia A respiratory irritant, and lethal in combination with bleach.
- Quaternary ammonium compounds The "quats" in most disinfectant wipes, linked to occupational asthma in cleaning staff.
- Synthetic fragrance One word on a label that can hide dozens of undisclosed ingredients.
- Glycol ether solvents Common in glass and all-purpose sprays. They are what "clean smell" usually is.
- Triclosan and added antibacterials No proven household benefit over plain soap.
- Aerosol propellants They put the product into the air you breathe rather than onto the surface.

The ones we actually get.
Do natural cleaning products actually work?
For the great majority of household cleaning, yes. Most cleaning is soil removal, which is done by surfactants, mild acids and mechanical action, and plant-derived versions of all three perform the same job as petroleum-derived ones. Where the honest answer is no is disinfection: vinegar is not a registered disinfectant in Canada, so where a surface genuinely needs disinfecting we use a Health Canada registered product rather than pretending vinegar will do it.
What products do you use? Can I see the list before you come?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Ask and we email the full product list with safety data sheets before the first visit, so anyone in the house with asthma, allergies or a pregnancy can check it against their own advice. Read the summary on our what we actually use page.
Is it safe for my cat, my dog and my kids?
That is the whole point of how we work. We use no chlorine bleach, no ammonia and no quats, and by default we add no fragrance at all. On essential oils we are cautious rather than enthusiastic: several of the oils sold as "natural cleaners", including tea tree, pine and citrus, are genuinely toxic to cats, so we do not diffuse or spray them in homes with animals.
Do you clean mould?
We clean surface mould on non-porous surfaces with detergent and water, which is what Health Canada and CCOHS actually recommend rather than bleach. What we do not do is remediation: if mould covers more than about one square metre, or it is inside drywall, insulation or subfloor, that is a remediation job and we will tell you so and point you at someone qualified.
